I have conflicting thoughts about myself, my art and things in general. I have an endless urge to understand the world, but also constant need to create something that should not need to be understood. I tried to understand what is art. Who is artist. Is every result of creativity art or is there something else needed. Why archtitects or movie directors are not expected to create everything themselves, but painters and musicians are. How technology and globalization is changing the possibilities of being creative? Offcourse these questions have existed for a long time. From ancient times to today art has had some kind of rules that people have tried to break - that's kind of idea in art. Trying to find new ways of expressing yourself. To think outside of a box. Leonardo, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Steve Jobs - they all have inspired me. All of them could create something that already existed - and they still created something that changed everything. My movie Sleep started as a study of the original film of andy Warhol. I saw it in Finland many years ago in the Kiasma theater. I just took the idea and then created everything myself. It's facinating how much you can actually put in to such a movie. Yet still I wanted to maintain some similarities to the original movie, so I chose to film it with a consumer-grade pocket camera with limited lighting. I like the result. It is a very long short movie. Even if you just quickly browse through the movie, you find something new every time.
